First groundwater sampling in the gwTriade project

09.08.2023

On August 8, the first sampling for the pilot study in the joint project gwTriade took place. In the district of Heinsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia, three groundwater monitoring points were sampled in the immediate surroundings of a military airbase in Gangelt/Geilenkirchen.

The aim of the pilot sampling is to assess the ecotoxicological, chemical and ecological status of the sampled groundwater and thus be able to comprehensively evaluate both the quality of the groundwater body and the status of the biodiversity. To determine possible contamination at the three different sites, effects-based methods as well as chemical and fauna-based analyses will be used.
