With around 300 participants attending both in person and online, the workshop—held annually since 1996—once again provided a platform for interdisciplinary exchange on water protection and sustainable water management.
For the first time, the topic of groundwater ecology took center stage: in their presentations, Hans-Jürgen Hahn and Henner Hollert offered insights into the crucial role of groundwater organisms in the self-purification and filtration functions of groundwater and introduced the concept of the gwTriade Project. The subsequent panel discussion explored how groundwater ecology could be more strongly integrated into technical and legal planning processes in the future.
